Considering the age - not bad

A Customer from Devon, 15th September, 2006

I rented this film after rereading some of the old King books and after having children the Pet Sematary book rather hit the spot. So I decided to watch the film again. (I notice that there have been no reviews for at least a year). Apart from the horrendous traditional 80's acting from all concerned, the emotional impact of the film is still pretty good. I would imagine this to be less so if you do not have kids yourself and also I recall I thought this was pretty dire when it was first released. So final analysis is: Not *too* different from the book given the time constraints. Forgive the acting and feel the story and this is still entertaining stuff. I will now rent Pet Sematary 2 where no doubt I will be sorely disappointed due to there not being a book to read first.

Come back again & again.

Loubilou from , 6th May, 2008

Not having read the book, or seen the film I watched in anticipation. I knew the general background although not 100% sure what it entailed. The story was the usual Stephen King gripping and shocking, however you do have to ignore the fact that its an 80's film. I LOVED Judd, I thought he was a wonderful charactor, but found the wife a little weak. i was amazed by the fathers actions, even if it was for the sake of his family, and the dead guy helping the family out from the 'other side' was wonderful! Overall if you ignore the 80's acting its a great film, with a twisted storyline and a not so happy ending! Classic King!

Good for its genre and time

Simon Coupe from London, 28th January, 2008

This is a good film for its genre and the time it was made. It is very true to the book though with the screenplay by Stephen King you expect this to be the case.
