A brother and sister on spring break from college decide to take the scenic route home--an endless, desolate stretch of road through central Florida. Along the way they are run off the road by a strange truck, and later they see its driver disposing of what looks like a human body down a drainpipe near an old church. Derry (Justin Long) convinces his older sister, Trish (Gina Philips), that they have to investigate, and despite all better judgment, they do. That's just the beginning of this wild horror film, directed by Victor Salva (POWDER). Salva keeps the audience guessing by never settling into any particular style or formula. The film veers gleefully in all directions, referencing such classics as NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and even THE TERMINATOR, along the body-strewn way. There is no shortage of clever humour amid the shocks, gross-outs, and nail-biting suspense, and Philips and Long exhibit a refreshingly believable brother-sister rapport. The supporting cast includes Patricia Belcher as a psychic and Eileen Brennan as an eccentric cat owner. Francis Ford Coppola is the executive producer.

Why Why Why Why...

Raj from Croydon, 31st August, 2004

Why do these films get made? It's not scary, not funny, not anything. Simply a waste of time. Having seen the trailer I decided to go and see it in the Cinema. Never again will I see a film based solely on a trailer. It leaves you feeling angry, wanting your money back and wanting your time back.

What did make me laugh though was the fact that they made a sequel. I haven't seen that and I doubt very much that I ever will.

Excellent. A very scary film, much better than its sequel. I recommend this one if you want a good horror.

This is not a horror movie

andylondon from from London, 18th September, 2006

The makers of Jeepers Creepers should be congratulated; they have created a new genre: Annoyance movies. Sure, it masquerades as a horror movie but that's not what it is. Okay, so, my point. In a horror movie you always (almost always) need at least one stupid decision to be made. If they kids did what we would do, they'd never be able to go into the woods and get massacred and that would be no fun. However, Jeepers Creepers is 90 minutes of stupid decisions. Let's give it a whirl, shall we? Answer me this: If you *thought* you saw a guy toss (toss like they weighed nothing) what you *thought* might be two bodies into a pile and then he chased you in his truck and ran you off the road, would you go back to see if the people who may or may not be down that pipe needed a hand getting out? NO! Of courseyou wouldn't! That's just stupid decision number 1. Over the course of the film there are countless others. This film contains no frights at all, mainly because on the rare occasion they do crop up, you're so annoyed that they even got into this situation in the first place that you don't care. I was praying for these idiots to be butchered within the first 15 minutes of the film and, I have to tell you, I was pretty disappointed. If you like poorly developed, annoying characters and horror films that are less scary than a Disney movie then this be right up your street. If you're not a complete idiot, stay well away.

A good twist on the horror genre

DrAndyP from West Sussex, 10th June, 2004

It begins with a teenage boy and girl in a car in the middle of Hicksville, middle America. 'Wait a minute' you cry, I've seen this film before! But they are brother and sister rather than lovers and the story unfolds at a pacy rate.

Good use of suspense and a nice twist at the end lift this film out of the purely mundane bracket. One of the better teen horrors out there, looking forward to watching 'Jeepers Creepers 2'.

Tongue in cheek teen horror

A Customer from London, 11th August, 2008

Enjoyable and watchable but of course predictable (although there is a twist at the end!) quite fun to watch, worth giving it a go!!

Jeepers Creepers

A Customer from Dunfermline, 2nd March, 2008

A film I chose to miss when it was at the cinema as it looked like just another cliche' teen horror movie. It wasn't too bad. Did have a handfull of eerie moments but I would say a 3 is a fair rating.
