Based on a film from 1968 (that starred Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda), this is a family comedy about two large families who come together to create total chaos. Helen (Renee Russo) is the free-spirited mother of ten, including six adopted children. Meanwhile, Admiral Frank Beardsley (Dennis Quaid) has eight well-trained overachievers, including a class president (Sean Faris), a cheerleader (Katija Pevec) and a pair of sugar-addicted twins (Brecken and Bridger Palmer). Among those on Helen's free-spirit side are a cute guitar-playing hipster chick (Danielle Panabaker), a sullen boy (Drake Bell), a rapper (Lil' JJ), a tempermental young fashion designer (Lao North), twins from India (Jennifer and Jessica Habib), and a potbellied pig. When Helen and Frank impulsively wed after reuniting at a class reunion, their differing clans resent suddenly having to share bedrooms and bathroom time with such polar opposites...

Putrid, Steaming Pile of Vomit!

A Customer from Scotland, 6th April, 2007

I rented this film because I had fond memories of the original Lucille Ball /Henry Fonda version from the 60's.The plot is based on a true story of a large blended family. This version--I'm burping bile just thinking about the obnoxious spectacle I've just witnessed--is the modern, trendy take on the original. The first warning siren went off when the original story line is tortured into a politically correct format--we now have a guy with 8 kids, and a woman with some natural kids and a bunch of multi-racial orphans. I was squirming when the approximately 7 year old gay oriental fashion designer orphan was hamming it up. In this version, we have Dennis Quaid as the dad--brother Randy would have been more suited to this mess--I guess Dennis needed the paycheck--parts like this have the whiff of extreme career decay about them. Rene Russo plays the idiotic mother--blechh! A new housekeeper character is introduced--she's an alcoholic midget played by Linda Hunt. Throw in a pot-bellied pig--the producers must have rented it for a week and were determined to get full value--I felt sorry for the pig! The family moves into a delapidated light house in Connecticut which would probably cost about $4 million in real life. Oh yes--truly puke-tastic scenes of little kids falling out of high windows. The whole thing is a nauseating mess--it's so assinine that even 5 year olds would be too sophisticated for it!!

Yours, Mine & Ours

S Jordan from Manchester, 11th August, 2008

Funny film about 2 large families of 8+ kids get together by their parents marrying. The kids pitch a vengence to split up their parents until finally they realise they get on very well together & school is easier against bullying as their brothers & sisters all stand up for each other . Then its too late they have already split up their parents!! What will they do? has drake & carly in , out of drake & Josh. Good family film

Dissapointing. I fell asleep half way through. It was predictable and boring. Maybe more suitable as a family film, but not for adults.
