Amazing

Mina Murray from Manchester, England, 24th September, 2005

I loved this film! It follows the passions and dreams of a group of boys in a skateboard team. When they win competions and get signed by the big names, friendships and the reasons they started in the first place are threatened. Don't see this if your only interested in Jonny Knoxville or Tony Hawks though cause they only have cameos.I left the cinema with a sudden urge to go and buy a skateboard. This film is cool.

Excellent

yolanda palmer-melin from London, UK, 12th February, 2006

Excellent film, strongly recommended. Superbly acted by the three leads, especially Emile Hirsch as Jay Adams. An absolute must see for anyone with a passion for skating and the 70's. It is also accompanied by a great soundtrack. Also a must see is the documentary (Dogtown and Z Boys). I would recommend to watch it first if you are not familiarized with the story.

Better than I expected

Paul Hird from Nottingham, 7th February, 2006

Not a bad film. I love Dog Town and the Z-Boys and was expecting this to be hard to sit through all jazzed up by Hollywood but came away nicely surprised. I love the way they show Jay Adams, obviously going down the wrong road while Stacy and Tony Alva made the cash, but still showed him to be skating, not, like in the documentary, a lazy drug head who just quit skating and wasted his life. He didnt do as well as the others, but he kept kicking ass and made a few bucks on the way. The film could have been so much better had the film company not been bothered about ratings and reaching a bigger audience, but that aside, it's well worth watching.

Excellent!

This film is well worth a watch! As usual, Heath Ledger's acting skills are ace and this film is jam packed full of well known actors, most of which i recognised then had to google as cudnt remember where i'd seen them lol! This film was totally cool though, great acting, good story although a tad slow but the camera work and the skate moves were ace to watch. Definately worth a watch!

Lords of Dogtown

Harv from from London, 17th July, 2008

There is much to like in this film. Sure if you are after accurracy or even interested in more of the history check out the documentary 'Dogtown and Z-Boys'. However this film still delivers a lot. First off are the great perfromances, Heath Ledger is incredibly charasmatic and his presence is really missed in the later parts of the film. Emile Hirsch does 'angry young man' extremley well. The whole vibe of the film, from the peroid detail and music brings the story to life. Sure you can moan about how it's a cash-in on the Documentary, however I think the film's good enough to stand on it's own. 3.5/5
