Radio Times

For the sixth entry in their enduring Dracula series, Hammer relocated the count to swinging Chelsea, where he's holed up in a deconsecrated King's Road church and putting the bite on hippy layabouts. Derided at the time as a monumental misjudgement on the House of Horror's part, this slice of bell-bottomed phoniness can now be enjoyed as a camp period piece. Despite the mod trappings, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing are as convincing as ever in their familiar roles, and director Alan Gibson keeps things moving at a fine pace.

Get a hair cut ya damn hippies...

Darth Egregious from London, 16th December, 2005

...and try not to raise the embodiment of all that is evil while you're at it! I can't believe Christopher Lee thinks Scars of Dracula is his worst outing as Dracula when this rubbish exists. I ask you, why would Dracula hang out with a bunch of out of date hippies? - the very idea of a poly-nylon mix would be a anathema to the man!! The dialogue is as unbearable dated as the clothes, and frankly the music (by Stoneground) doesn't help. Cushing and Lee looked as irritated as I felt by this 'hip young crowd.' The whole film is just so very very wrong.

Far out man...

Greg from Brighton, England, 26th November, 2006

Hey man, what’s the scene man, be cool, be groovy, don’t sweat it man... the party scene at the start of this movie is like something out of an Austin Powers movie. Some young hippy decides to bring the Prince of Darkness back from the dead in London, in 1972. To most people used to living in Transylvania in the 19th century this might come as a bit of a shock, but Mr Lee wastes no time in biting his way through a group of laid-back-groovy-chicks. It’s all quite daft but who cares when Mr Cushing gets his wooden stake out and starts looking for a corpse to spike. Wild ‘n’ crazy man.

Fantastic Fun!!

Matthew Fancy from Bournemouth, England, 1st December, 2005

Cracking early 70's lark from Hammer.Groovy kids (including Stephanie Beecham) bring Dracula back from his grave and into happening 1972 action. Dailogue peppered with 'maaans' and 'wild, crazy' etc. Much like the end of Carry on Camping. Lee and Cushing's final on screen battle. Excellent fun if dated.(Note-The Faces were due to appear as the in house band but were axed - a week before 'A Nod's as Good as a Wink..' came out. Doh!)

Fangtastic!

A Customer from Market Drayton, 29th August, 2008

This is actually a very good Dracula film; I thought that it would be quite bad because it was the sixth film starring Christopher Lee as Dracula and I thought that they may have exhausted the character and because they had set it in 1972 to draw younger audiences of the day to see it, I think that vampires should stay in the late 19th century. The special effects in it are quite good as well (for Hammer). Cushing’s and Lee’s performances are the best part of the film, they are absolutely fantastic. There is only one thing in this film that made me rate this film four stars, and that is the annoying and rude teenage granddaughter Professor Van Helsing (Cushing) has. I recommend this film to all fans of horror, Dracula and Cushing and Lee.
