Customer Review

It is a remarkable acheivement to make such a series/docudrama on such a sensitive issue, at least programme making like this in the seventies was sacresent. That said, the actors/actresses are very well cast but I felt that the series leaned towards the feeling that Mrs Simpson was the 'problem' - typpically a response to the feeling of the period. This film will leave you wondering. Perhaps seven parts, 50 mins each, is dragging it out a bit but this is still an addivtice piece of television.

Edward and Mrs Simpson

A Customer from Lytham St. Annes, 2nd April, 2008

My wife loves anything to do with the Royal Family and found this film very enjoyable, but was disappointed at the amount of smoking that went on in the 2 discs.{ she wondered if this was actual reality or free licence.} Mrs Simpson came across as a real female manipulator working her way up the social scale to its Possible pinnacle. She was pleased at the failure of Mrs Simpsons conniving aspirations. The film quality was not quite up to the normal standards but she enjoyed it never-the-less. The film gives an insight into the old fashioned respect and the role of the 'church ' then, which is sadly lacking today.

Very Poor

A Customer from England, 4th October, 2006

Watched this film and found it not only boring but rubbish as well. Saw a dvd about jfk and found it to be much more interesting. In my opinion I would not recommend this dvd to anyone unless you have trouble sleeping.

jolly pleaseant viewing

A Customer from norwich norfolk.uk, 14th July, 2006

i would have given this superb series 4 stars but for two reasons. firstly the last few episodes were a bit dull as edward kept talking to ministers asking the same questions like should he marry wallis and would this mean abdication from the throne? secondly i wanted to know more about life after the abdication.how the couple lived and did they regret anything.i dont think im spoling things to say yes edward did give up the throne for wallis!!!!! the looks of cynthia harris and edward fox matched the royal pair exactly.the costimes and production lavish.well worth a look.
