Dario Argento and Lamberto Bava co-wrote this horror film, a huge European hit upon release. The film centers on two young girls who go to a brutal zombie movie and begin to notice happenings in theater mirroring the action on screen. Soon, half of the audience have been turned into blood thirsty zombies, forcing the remaining patrons to defend themselves from the unholy beasts. Stylish, gory, bleakly funny and reminiscent of George A. Romero's films, DEMONS is a hugely entertaining horror movie. Argento also produced and Bava, son of the legendary Mario Bava (BLACK SUNDAY), directed.

80's Cheese but great!!

Paul Gager from Pontefract, England, 30th December, 2004

This was classic 80's cheese with bad clothing, bad soundtrack and bad acting but if you look past all that then this is a great film for any horror movie lovers. Packed with blood guts and gore it was good to see a film not over done with computer graphics as is now the norm but instead some well done make up and prostetics as was typical for its day. Not the greatest film by all means but a great alternative and an old classic!!

Visceral joy

Melon from East Sussex, 15th May, 2004

This is one of the best Italian horrors ever. The usual industry quirks are all here (total lack of logic, terrible acting, bad dubbing et al), but actually work positively as the film moves with a lunatic kinetic energy from set piece to set piece. The hyper-violence makes modern Hollywood horror look just gay in comparison. By the end, with the nominal hero riding a motorbike over the theatre seats wielding a sword and a helicopter crashing through the roof, you know you've seen a true pulp-trash-gore classic.

For those that can appreciate the old way...

Dizzeem from London, 18th October, 2005

Demons is good a movie for those that can appreciate the old “art” of making monster films without the use of much modern technology. Demons is one of those movies you wake up at 3AM and catch on TV and just get sucked into because it is different and not something you catch on TV everyday. It is a very creative (costumes) and original movie. I didn’t particular care for the rock music though (those Italians.. and their special ways of doing things).

God, that green stuff is just horrid...

Christopher Clayton from London, UK, 25th February, 2007

Woo! This is some great 80's cheese right here. 'Demons' was, I believe, produced by Dario Argento, though it's more throwaway than his particular style. What we have here is basically a gory, very European style of film-making with a cracking pace and lots of blood. Most of the movie takes place in a theater, with bloodthirsty humans transformed into demons feasting on the few who fight to survive. The acting is pretty bad, but the blood is worth seeing and the atmosphere is quite intense and scary. There were several unrelated sequels to this one, with 'Demons 2' being the better of them.

one word classic if you haven't seen this film watch it even if its just to say you have seen it you will not be disapointed i watched this 16 years ago on vhs but lost it i was devastated if you get past the 80's cheese you will love it and the best part is there making a modern version of this so you need to see the original to admire what there about to make in 2009. it as plenty of gore ,action, thrills and spills and abit of romance and a excellent rock soundtrack so RENT THIS ASAP....

I feel sick

A Customer from Cheltenham, 23rd January, 2008

Post Modernism begins and ends here: a load of people go to the pictures to see a film about what's soon going to take place in the cinema. The characters in the film being shown at the Metropole turn unpleasant and vomit green slime, then the characters in DEMONS do the same, and then you, the viewer, start feeling sick. But is it the demonic disease or is it the deplorable 80s fashion; the rippling muscles bursting from sleeveless denim; the atrocious acting from genetically modified cheekbones or the Go West tainted soundtrack? They even manage to get the hero on a motorbike in the cinema, for God's sake. And yes, there's a grappling hook. Abysmal.

Good bit of cheesy horror fun!

SkinHeadDeano from , 12th January, 2008

A great film to watch if not for the horror, for the ridiculous characters and cheesy acting throughout! Sadly didn't contain as many over the top comical horror scenes as i thought it would, but not a bad watch. Terrible story, terrbile acting, terrible monsters....great stuff!
