Chucky's back. And this time he's got a girlfriend, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). Their way of having a good time is going on a murder-spree road trip, killing any and everything that gets in their way. Along for the ride are Jade (Katherine Heigl) and Jesse (Nick Stabile), a pair of teens on the run from their uncaring parents. As the body count rises, Jade and Jesse must deal with the consequences of their killer dolls. This fourth installment in the CHILD'S PLAY series is a campy horror extravaganza. |
This fourth encounter with devilish doll Chucky is the most entertaining of the Child's Play series, thanks to Ronny Yu's colourful direction, a wickedly humorous tone and the irresistible presence of Jennifer Tilly. Clearly inspired by the tongue-in-cheek playfulness of Scream, there's more laughter than slaughter as Chucky and new dolly girl Tiffany plot to escape their diminutive frames. Although the story is lightweight even by the standards of a horror spoof, the witty references to horror classics of past and present and the hilarious interplay (and intercourse) between the rubber lovers resurrect this series from its movie grave.

Halliwell's Film Guide
Horror movie done with some panache, and a nod or two in the direction of The Bride of Frankenstein.
