JACKASS: THE MOVIE may go down in history as the most irresponsible, outrageous footage ever to be released by a major Hollywood studio. Based on the MTV show of the same name, creators and coproducers Jeff Tremaine, Johnny Knoxville, and Spike Jonze stretch their surprisingly successful concept into a feature-length film. Watch cast regulars Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Bam Margera, Dave England, Ryan Dunn, Jason "Wee Man" Acuna, Preston Lacy, Ehren McGehey, and Brandon Dicamillo as they perform a series of ridiculously dangerous and dangerously stupid stunts. Entering a rental car in a crash-up derby, snorting wasabi, eating a urine-soaked snow-cone, self-inflicting paper cuts, and using a store's display toilet are just a few of the increasingly obscene antics that unfurl at a relentless pace. A large portion of the footage finds the pranksters in Japan, dressing up in outlandish outfits and wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting locals. Whether or not this is a hysterical romp or a waste of eighty minutes is for the viewer to decide, but the fact can't be argued, JACKASS: THE MOVIE is slapstick entertainment for the 21st Century, incorporating the modern world's fascination with reality television and obsession with disaster into a raucous, electrifying spectacle.

Radio Times

Johnny Knoxville and his daredevil buddies take their eye-watering antics to new extremes in this darkly funny feature-length version of the cult TV series. Produced by Being John Malkovich director Spike Jonze, it builds on the group's MTV-spawned format, in which the modern-day clowns repeatedly risk life and limb carrying out absurd, and often dangerous, stunts and pranks. From master of outrage Steve-O snorting wasabi — a kind of Japanese horseradish — to Men in Black II star Knoxville smashing himself up in a golf buggy, there's apparently nothing these adrenalin junkies won't do for public entertainment. It's far from subtle and definitely an acquired taste, but fans of the show won't be disappointed. The movie doesn't manage to maintain its crazy momentum for its entirety, and there are segments, particularly those involving bodily fluids, that really fall flat. Overall, however, this is spirited adults-only viewing — just don't expect elderly relatives to approve.

Sick

Rip from Manchester, 1st November, 2005

Sick in a good way.. Great fun, just like the TV programme with a bigger budget and a bigger shopping trolly. I always feel that I shouldn't like it but I do!

Shouldn't be funny, but IS

A Customer from Edinburgh, Scotland, 14th September, 2003

I'd never seen the tv show before I watched this, but might have to start watching now. This film is HILARIOUS, although it pains me slightly to say it - if you laughed at cartoon kids singing 'uncle f***er' in South Park, then you'll know what I mean. It's so prurient, so juvenile, but so utterly infectious! It's at heart nothing more than a compendium of clips, based around stupid/dangerous/disgusting stunts which a team of seemingly indestructable young men perform and film with worryingly evident glee. Headed by Johnny Knoxville, a kind of dark-haired, satanic version of Brad Pitt, they proceed to dive headfirst down bowling alleys on skateboards, crash golf carts in adventure playgrounds, test out riot-control weapons on themselves, snort wasabi... the list goes on and on. It's definitely not for everyone, and there is some genuinely disgusting footage which is extremely distasteful, but if the sound of it doesn't put you off you'll probably enjoy this as much as I did.

we only watched this dvd for 15 minutes and turned it off. I do not remember ordering this, but we do not think it was worth watching any further. we do nt appear to be getting films off our list that are high priority and if this does not improve we will not be continuing with membership one our free trail period is over

Jackass - More of the same ....

DirtyHound from Surrey, 30th October, 2003

"Jackass. The movie". Well in reality it's just an extended episode of the MTV hit series but what you have to ask youself is....

Is "The" a good thing (yes, if you like Jackass)
or
Is "The" a bad thing (no, if you don't)

The stunts are no bigger or no funnier however, I couldn't stop laughing all the way through. I even hunted through the entire DVD looking for extras and removed bits. To my relief there were plenty. In fact, they could make a 'directors cut' with the extra 20 mins of footage you can find.

All in all, an excellent -extended version- of Jackass. I loved it, my wife thinks I'm sad. Although my wife's opinion of me isn't just based on my taste in DVDs.

So, if you are sitting on the fence about whether to watch this movie, ask yourself, would you laugh at sick, stupid, childish and dangerous behaviour? If the answer is yes, sit back with a cold beer and prepare to laugh so hard that it comes out of your nose.

Jackass Rocks !!

Shazon from Swansea,Wales, 3rd August, 2008

I don't understand why people don't enjoy this film... it's just a bunch of guys doing randum stuff !! Yeah some of the stuff makes you cringe but it's still funny !! Just don't do any of it at home that is or you'll either get arrested, sent to hospital or completly humiliated ! Very funny for people who have a very unusual sense of humour ! 5 star ! *****

Jackass - The Movie

Smoggie from The Boro, 26th July, 2008

Watch at your own peril, because these guys generally are mayhem at it's worst...!!! They eat stuff then puke (literally), maim themselves for fun, and are dangerous to the extreme...!!! But they are just so funny and totally mad, they make you wanna cringe... Watch if broad minded, and if you have a warped sense of humour, and you will love it, otherwise move on...

Definately worth a watch!

A Customer from Shrewsbury, England, 21st July, 2008

Great film, with so many laughs and many more cringes. Its just basically an extended version of an episode, but the stunts are more crazy and look alot more painful! It's fantastic and i really did enjoy it, but i have to say the second one is slightly better. Awesome though xxx
