Very Poor

KennyB from from Salisbury, 9th July, 2008

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I felt compelled in this case to save other film fans the torture I endured watching this film. First off the reasons I bought this without reading up on it is that I like the actors Jason Statham and Ray Liotta. Add to that another few famous faces (Ron Perlman / Burt Reynolds) and I thought cant go wrong. Secondly I like the genre, fantasy etc. However, if anyone is thinking of renting or even worse buying this film for any of the above reasons then don't. Think a very poorly thought out and cobbled together Lord of the Rings made for TV low budget affair. Try the Xena warrior princess or Hercules series on TV, they are better than this and no doubt made on a fraction of the budget. It seems like they blew the budget on famous faces, so when it came to actually shooting the movie, what you end up with is a disjointed storyline with laughable effects and truly dire directing and acting given the cast. I really wanted to like this film, but instead I felt embarrased watching it. I could go on but I think the point has been clearly made. One final thing is that when watching it, I was reminded of the spoof send up films like scary movie, which if it had been advertised as such, it would have been quite entertaining. As it is I have not felt so down after watching a movie since Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer. You have been warned.

Okay

A Customer from Wadebridge, 1st July, 2008

As far as movies go, this is awful. As far as Uwe Boll movies go, this is actually rather good. Good FX, good actors (but dodgy performances) and solid enough hero plot (obviously mirroring LOTR). For the blokes there's Leelee Sobieski and Kristanna Loken (from T3 and Boll's previous film Bloodrayne) and for the girls there's Statham and, er, Ray Liotta. Ron Perlman gives a welcome dose of dry humour. Entertaining enough.

Lord of the Rings rip off

A Customer from Burgess Hill, 27th October, 2008

This film was just terrible. Much of the special effects was copied off Lord of the Rings. I'm sure the music used for the Shire in Lord of the Rings was nicked and used in this film. The acting was weak and story line even worst. Very predictable. The costumes of the 'orcs' type things looked like paper maiche. The fighting was laughable and weirdly some ninjas were protecting the king! I wish I had had the reviews before renting this movie!
